Solar panels on every rooftop? Photovoltaics boom in Poland and

The country has ambitious plans to significantly expand its renewable energy, with a particular focus on photovoltaics (PV). According to the Institute for Renewable Energy (IEO), there are more than 19 gigawatts (GW) of solar projects in planning or development in Poland.
RWE has been awarded 31 solar projects in Poland, with a combined capacity of 102 megawatts of direct current (MWdc), following the latest renewable energy auction held by the Polish energy regulator, Urząd Regulacji Energetyki (URE). This capacity translates to approximately 84 megawatts of alternating current (MWac).
The cross -sector development - such as the integration of memory solutions and the coupling with other renewable energy sources - shows that Poland not only looks at solar energy isolated, but also tries to build up a future -proof, resilient and diversified energy system.
Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia: “Solar power plays an increasing key role in the Polish energy transition. Borek solar project is the next milestone in our journey to leverage Poland's sunny conditions with great sites for solar energy.
